Email forward and copy

Email Forwarding Q
seems to describe what I need to do. Only I can't follow the advice in the thread.

A customer of mine wants an email address to forward AND keep a copy.

Having been able to do this on two entirely separate systems I've worked on the last few years by setting a forward and then checking a box to say 'Keep a copy', just assumed this would be present here too.

Looking at the thread above, there is a suggestion to have an alias on another account the same as the actual mail account name and it is said that works.

It did sound odd to me to have the same name in two places, but I tried it anyway - and it doesn't work. I am told the alias already exists and it can't be created - which is perfectly logical and what i expected.
Or, do I need to remove the email address account, add the alias first and then re-add the email address?

Alternatively, if I have to go the route of adding 'email1@...' and have the forward to two addresses, what is the format for adding a second forward address - are they comma-separated?

Thanks
