Well I am not sure if this is really the reason why most companies prefer to use linux over windows servers. They say that you do not need to reboot your linux server after a patch has been installed. Making the lives of the server guys a lot easier and no impact / service interruption to production as well. With Windows as we all know, almost every installation requires a reboot thus making this activity a very high priority and would require approvals from the bosses and letting them know that during this maintenance window production will be interrupted due to a reboot.
