blackberry

I am looking to change my mobile phone and was planning on a Blackberry, but am concerned to ensure that I can send and receive my emails. Does anyone know if United Hosting's service is compatible with this and please note that I have a basic email account with United without additional servers or similar.

I understand that Blackberry's can now deal with hotmail, googlemail, etc so I am hopeful that they can also deal with squirrelmail...?

Thanks in advance

I am not familiar with Blackberry devices but both Matt and myself use Windows Mobile based phones and have no issues collecting email via. POP3/IMAP. If Blackberry can do the same then you will have no problems.

blackberry

Thanks. I've been using windows mobile but the connection is not reliable and obviously not "push" email. Hence my question...

When you get your BlackBerry you'll also get a BlackBerry email account. Just set your website mail to forward to your BlackBerry mail address.

Blackberry requires additional support - BlackBerry - BlackBerry Internet Service Email

I believe the BIS service allows you to connect to essentially any POP3 or IMAP compatible mail provider (UH allow access via both). I know O2 offer this service in the UK.

I have been using blackberry for about 1 and half years now on orange and vodafone and both have no problem at all recieving emails from united hosting accounts.

basically just ring up the provider tell them you want to have emails on your phone and then they will either:

1) give you a link to do it on the internet yourself
2) sort it out over the phone for you.

very simple and easy to use

Blackberry works straight out of the box, I know I'm in Spain but the idea is the same, I can either use the phone to configure the account, or often easier is to do it online.

In my case, i go to BlackBerry Internet Service and login with my account details, provided at the time of buying your blackberry and goto add account. enter the details as you would for MS outlook or any other client, and it should start picking up emails on your phone shortly after.

I've never used additional software to get emails from UH servers.
