Create new folders within /var/www?

Hello,

I have just created an account with united hosting and I am tring to set up our mvc framework on the server.

I have come across several issues but i'll just bring up the first one here.
Our application requires folders to be located above the public html folder i.e. in /var/www

When i try to create directories here I get permission denied. Is there a way for me to do this rather than locating them elsewhere on the server?

If you open a ticket we can create a directory for you at the /var/www/ and you can then write into that.

Thanks for your advice. Ive actually decided to go with a solution which keeps everything a bit tidier. Ive created the appropriate symlink in my user directory to /var/www/html and the non-public folders can just sit in my user folder.

Glad you found a solution, if you do change your want and want /var/www/somethingsecure/ then just let us know via the helpdesk, this is a common request.
