pointing root reseller subdomains at packages

Hello,

I've recently created a reseller account for myself and am still getting used to the system.

I've been trying to do something but haven't succeeded yet. I was hoping somebody on here might be able to help?

If I have a domain maindomain.co.uk which is used for my reseller account, is it possible to create a subdomain that points at a package?

e.g.
maindomain.co.uk -> reseller root
dev.maindomain.co.uk -> reseller package

I am creating a website for a customer and would like to do so using a package. Once they are happy with the site, they could point their domain name at my UH server.

Is this possible?

Ah yes

Right, I had another try and it worked fine.

This is how I did it:

in my root cPanel I used the simple zone dns editor to add an A Record pointing dev at my ip address.

I then created a package using the Webhost Manager and created an account with the domain dev.mydomain.com

Don't know what I did wrong the first time I tried it.

Or you could have just set up the actual domain name they use in your reseller account and then used the preview URLs to access it.

Then, when they repoint the domain, it's already there on the server.
