| We've actually sold nearly half of them as dedicated servers for clients, we'll be adding another dedicated server level in the £450-500/month price bracket to the site off the back of the popularity of this spec! More will be ordered soon to replenish ready for these cpanel moves.

all those new servers which have been sitting idle since 2 months before christmas will be old technology by the time you get round to using them
| I think you're getting confused - but then your tag line does say "Senile Member"
The programme UH are talking about is the conversion of existing and therefore older servers from Ensim to cPanel, and not new servers.

| Maybe I'm getting senile too :-) but I thought the conversion was double edged : some of the older shared servers being replaced and cpanel installed at the same time ? |

| 1. New servers are automatically cPanel (unless they are dedicated and the customer wants something else)
2. Older servers wil be migrated to cPanel.

I will also post about some of the huge benefits you will see from this change, both in terms of new hardware developments and speeds, and also new features Cpanel will offer. | |

| email authentication Will existing email accounts still work? We have lots logging in via pop clients with the format account@domain where as Cpanel email does not use the @domain in the user name?
Also, any idea when the reseller upgrades will be announced? |

| You will still login with the full email address as the username on Cpanel, these settings will not change.

| Thanks Matt, can I be sure that our hosted Magento sites will be unaffected after the migration? Any idea when our server will be upgraded?
Will dedicated server prices/specifications be changing from the current advertised prices? |

| Hi
Nothing should be affected if everything goes to plan. We will be announcing our schedules very soon for this change, we are currently delayed as we continue to wait on another fix from cpanel for the migration script we have been working on with them.
Pricing on servers will not change, there is a small additional licence cost for cpanel which we will absorb, and also we will be including the "Fantastico" addon for auto-install of many scripts.

| In a recent support ticket we discussed taking a dedicated server with a view to adding disk space later down the line but we told that although it could be added, it wouldn't be seen by the server/panel. Will this restriction be gone with CPanel? Ta, |

| For Magento sites, before the switch make sure to clear all caching and turn off all caching until after the switch is completed.
As Magento's configuration is stored in an XML file you may need to edit that unless the upgrade script maintains all db names, user names and passwords as before.

| The restriction on adding space is not really down to the control panel. It is down to weather the server you take has room to add further disks (physical bays) and also how the new disk of space will then be allocated.
Much the same as a home computer you cannot just add a disk and then it be available to your "my documents" folder, the new disk would be available only to any new folders you create.
So this is technically possible, but it depends how you plan to use the additional space. For example if you are going to host one big project, then adding a disk we would just add a new folder for your use in that project.
It would be best for you to open a new ticket, or re-open your old ticket, feel free to ask for me and we can discuss the specifics. We can always find solutions!

| Just to keep this thread updated regarding timelines.
While we have been successfully moving some dedicated customers, and some resellers who wanted to upgrade to dedicated from ensim to cpanel, we are "on hold" with our shared/reseller server migrations while we await a new version of the software from cpanel.
We had been promised this version by now, but the re-write they are working on is bigger than expected, they are now quoting us another 60 days of development before the new version is ready. This puts us at end of May before we have the version we hope will greatly assist us with our planned migrations, once we have this new version in our hands we will provide the notice and schedule the migrations to take place.
In the meantime we are using cpanel for new accounts, and for reseller/dedicated upgrades and new orders, we are no longer provisioning anything Ensim, so we are learning a lot and fine tuning our migration process on the old version at this time.
We will keep you fully updated with more information when it becomes available.

| It is worth an update.
We are still currently testing 11.25.1 which was released by cpanel last week including the changes to the ensim migration scripts that we needed and fed back to them.
We currently have 2 remaining bugs which are show stoppers and need cpanels attention, they are working to fix those last two things up now and provide us a patched 11.25.1, this should be with us any day, and we will then do another test.
Providing that all works as expected we will then be posting our official announcement regarding these migrations. The official announcement will give you schedules of when we anticipate migrating servers.
As we are still testing the last bits it is hard to put time against these things, but I would expect we will have our official announcements out in ~ 2 weeks time giving you a further 4-6 weeks of notice of the maintenance window we will require when moving your server.
We will be migrating 1 server per night and have around 50 shared/reseller servers to do initially, so the whole process to get all our shared/reseller customers on to cpanel will happen over a period of 2 months.

| I understand that there will be no user control panel. How will individual users on a domain set up forwarding and vacation messages, or will only site administrators be able to do that for them?
Thanks for your information and insight in this thread and the tickets, UH-* guys! |

| I believe individual users can do those things via logging in to webmail.
