Heard on Boags World

Recently the Boags World podcast celebrated an anniversary by having a video stream podcast, running for 12 hours. As part of this people could send in messages. One of those messages was:

"Japanese cars are going to take over the world. There's no stopping them now!"

Nice one, but I'm not sure Toyota would agree.

Mmm? You have heard about the problems that Toyota are having with their braking (won't stop) and accelerators pedals (get stuck and won't decelerate) - and having to recall millions of cars worldwide. That's what the "there's no stopping them" crack was all about.

Well, it should be good for the US car makers. Not a day goes by without another Toyota model being investigated for some new fault. The Chairman of Toyota is being called before a Senate committee to explain what's going on, they're getting fined, and all the bad publicity as well. It's reckoned that it will cost them billions of dollars to pay for all the recalls that are in progress around the world.

Rather ironically - As I was asking my Dad about his new Toyota Rav and whether it had been recalled or not ..... His hasnt but the same day I recieved a letter stating that the wifes Fiat has been recalled due to a problem with the steering column! Second recall on this and she does less than 1000 miles in a year!! Another wasted couple of hours taking in to the garage. Ahh well - should have known FIAT actually meaning Fix It Again Thanks!

At last the cunning plan of the british motor industry pays off. Wait till everyone else has problems...then strike. Unfortunately it took a tad longer than expected...

Well, we have a Citroen C1, but that has a Toyota engine, same as the Toyota Aygo and the Peugeot 106. So we're waiting to see if our car is subject to recall.

Sorry.... Was going to make a comment about who was now left to strike but really cant think of anyone left which is a bit depressing - I guess there is the Morgan factory but unless the rest of the world are happy to wait the 8 years delivery time and have no roofs on there wooden cars.... Any other UK manufacturers that Ive missed????......

Lotus? A totally impractical non-family car.
