Spam...

Is it me, or is UnitedHosting getting hit with loads of spam lately on this forum?

It has increased lately, with at least one spammer posting every weekday.

Ban the spammers!

I'm sure about half the new posts are spam now. I've stopped reporting them because what I described there has not changed. Spammers are not banned so they just do it again and I have to report them again, I'll pass on that! I guess there weren't too many people doing it with me, because now the posts are not consistently deleted either.

Hello,

There certainly has been a large amount of spam recently, and it is something we'll try and be a bit more pro-active on!

And I would encourage you to report any posts that appear as spam and we'll try and be a bit tougher with them...

It would be nice. This thread:

SEO - URL Structure for Dynamic/Database Driven Websites

has a post by DENZEL which I reported earlier on today along with a post by another spammer and it's still there (I'm sure it was reported when it was first made). I know you have to be careful not to delete genuine users, but sometimes it appears I'm banging my head against a brick wall when reporting a spammer.

Thanks Knapper, It is appreciated I've dealt with the posts and users.

Yeah, link spammers are a problem. I always report them when I see it happening. Symptoms are:

Repeated nonsense posts, or posts which add nothing to the thread.

They're just racking up their post count and then drop their spam links into their signature at a later date.

We'll take a look at some longer term solutions/modifications to stop this spam. In the mean team we'd be grateful if you report it!
