| That's just f***in crazy!
I've never seen anything like it - that must have cost a bit in diet coke!
Best thing for it though if U ask me - can't stand the stuff - full up with man made crap instead of nice natural sugar.
I mean yea, let's all avoid getting fat by filling our bodies with artificial sweeteners which give us cancer - GREAT!!!
Better still, let's fill up all the kids drinks and foods with it so we can increase the proportional amount of s*** in their systems relative to body weight - sure to kill them off that way! And what's more, if we put misleading things on the packaging like no artificial colours or flavours and not mention all the artificial sweeteners and preservatives then all the thick parents will buy it and we'll all be better off because the artificial s*** costs us less than sugar to produce!!![/rant]
Hmm - one of my pet hates - U might have guessed... |

| For people in the UK, we found that Polos work just as well as Mentos, and that Diet coke works better than normal coke for some reason.... when this video came out we spent an afternoon in July on our sixth form field with Coke and Polos "experimenting" and making a mess. |

| Wonder what would happen if you offered someone a Polo and then a glass of Diet Coke while they were still eating it? |

| There are some videos on youtube if you search for "mentos coke eat" (or drink). Some are pretty unpleasant though! |

| After a nite out I'd try anything, but the bigger the bottle the bigger the explosion.
Flavour of polo? I seem to remember original is best, but basically any minty sweet should work but don`t quote me on that!
If you put one polo on a plate and then pour a drop of coke on it you`ll see if its going work or not! then just pour the whole packet into the bottle and stand back!

| Sounds dangerous - anything put under high pressure is likely to explode - if you do try it then make sure you have some protection from flying shards of plastic...
I used to mess with explosives all the time for fun - made my own bangers, fireworks, mines (I used paint as it was less lethal than nails / ball bearings).
Would be interested to see the result though! |

Ben | Can't remember where I read this, but there was a scientific explanation doing the rounds recently...
Apparently the surface of a Mento is full of microscopic holes, which the carbon dioxide in the drink can stick to, which allows the fizziness to happen. Or something like that
So it needn't be a mint that you drop in - or maybe this is a feature common to all mint flavoured sweets?? It also said that a Mento sinks rather than floats, so the reaction happens through the whole bottle instead of just at the surface. I'd imagine (not having any sweets to hand!) that a polo floats "worse" than an extra strong mint, but there must be some better sinkers available.
By the way Mentos are available in UK - see www.mentos.co.uk - I didn't recognise the name til I saw a pic of the packet on the site, but I was given about 40 small promotional packs of these in the summer by someone or other. Naturally I put them all in the glove box and eat them myself over a few days - nice enough but rather boring, and at that scale they don't do your bowels any favours |

| More resources and the 'science' behind it all on this site.
The man reckons to have a record of 18 foot with his coke geyser. |
