SEO: UK or US hosting

Quite some time ago I bought Photoshop and PHP Tutorials which was hosted in the US and, as I am UK based, I moved it to the UK without giving it much thought.

I am wondering if this is having an adverse effect on my search engine rankings and whether I should move it back to the US.

As an example, doing a search for "photoshop tutorials" I come about number 64 in a "pages from the uk" in google but nowhere in a normal google search.

I can understand that a full google search will be a lot more competitive that a uk search but I thought I would come somewhere in the top 1000!

The majority of my traffic is US and I have set the Geographic Target as US in Webmaster Tools.

Cheers

Mike

Where did it come before you moved it? Have you seen a drop or where you just expecting a better result, with no comparison from before?

Generally it can be best to host a site in the US if the site is targetted towards the US.... Thats why we offer a choice of both locations with our hosting packages.

I wasn't so SEO aware then so I don't know where it ranked. I was just hoping for a better result.

That is partly why I asked here I suppose. I knew you did a choice. I think I might move it to you. Just a bit nervous about making things worse though. I do rank well for a lot of other keywords. I'd hate to mess them up.
