have UH made any changes to wasp server, specifically with php5? I've had some strange escape character issues and error ini file issues.

All servers have been upgraded to PHP5, as per this thread. This upgrade may have affected some php.ini settings

If this is account specific its probably best if you submit a support ticket detailing the exact error you are getting.
