pre-sales questions

Hey,

Looking to set up hosting with UH, but just a few questions first.

1# If i personally buy the hosting with my personal contact and card details, can both be transferred to the client i'm creating a web site for?

2# If the client already has a domain name registered, but does not want to transfer the name until the new site is build complete (so they can keep the old website active for the time-being), what options do i need to select when purchasing hosting?

3# I'm using Joomla as a CMS for the client, can you verify that php_safe_mode is off on the server i will be using or that is it able to be turned off briefly?

Cheers

Russ

Not to sure about 1 and 2, you'll have to wait until an admin responds to this, but for 3, as far as I know UH never have safe_mode enabled, the php environment is safe enough on its own with other security measures that this is not needed

for 1 and 2

1, at a guess I'd say this is probably not a problem
2, TRANSFER or NAMESERVERS, it depends what you eventually want to do, you don't have to do this straightaway

Send a message via MSN to Alex.
I think you can just put the domain in, then access the website like so:
http://serverdomain/~siteusername/
Until the client points the nameservers at UH.
Though if Joomla hard codes some links, then that might cause some small issues

Hi

Yes you can transfer/change the name on the account later on, no problem.

Also just selecting either 'change nameservers' or 'transfer' on the order are both fine, if you order the transfer we dont have to actually do it until later. If you order just nameserver change then you can order a transfer later on - your choice.

Thank you,

And for Joomla, make sure to adjust the php.ini file to "register_globals = Off" first thing, or just submit a ticket asking us to do so for you.

ps. This will avoid (or greatly reduce chance of) the nearly certain abuse of your Joomla installation.
