I hope in the near future to sign up for your web hosting service ( Bronze). I will be transferring in the domain name. The domain has just been renewed for two years will there be any additional charge from United Hosting for transferring in the domain name.

As I understand it I need to open a bronze web hosting account with you first, nominating the domain name currently held elsewhere, then arrange for that domain name to be transferred to my new account with you so that the website can become active.

I asume the website will go offline for a short while (any idea how long?) whilst the transfer of the domain name takes place.

Hello David,

If the domain is ".co.uk" then there is no charge. If it is another domain type then there may be an applicable charge (contact us via email to check on this).

For example a ".com" domain transfer will cost £10 but the domain will be renewed for a further year included in the transfer cost.

You can actually transfer without the site going offline. When you signup with us, you will be given details on how to place your site on our service before we transfer the domain over. That way during transfer your site will remain available (as it will be online with both your old host and us at the same time).
