| Moving from Fasthosts To UnitedHosting Hi,
We have a reseller account with Fasthosts and have registered 4 domain names through ukreg.com
For various reasons we are unhappy with Fasthosts and are having difficulty getting our e-commerce solutions to run on Fasthosts.
My question is if we open a reseller account with UnitedHosting when we create our domains do we get named servers. Within ukreg.com we can change the configuration for the named servers.
Am I write in thinking if we change this to the named servers given thats all we need to do. Apart from cancelling our Fasthosts account.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave |

| Hi Dave, welcome to UH.
I've had "technical difficulties" with FastHosts in the past, but I've never had a problem with UH and if you look through these forums you'll find many other happy members.
UH staff can better confirm this, but when you have a UH reseller account you do get your own name servers. e.g. ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com
You can leave your domains with UKReg, all you need to do is modify the nameservers in the UKReg control panel to point at your nameservers. Once your site is setup and the DNS changes have taken place everything should be up and running.

| With our reseller accounts you have your own branded nameservers. eg. All your client sites would use ns1.yourmaindomain.com / ns2.yourmaindomain.com. We try and remain as transparent as possible as far your clients are concerned. As Mark has correctly said, you do not need to transfer the domain to us from the current registrar, you just need to make some DNS changes with information we supply to you when your account is opened.

| Yep it should work. My reseller domain was actually registered through UKreg originally.
If i remember correctly you will need to send a support request to UKreg specifying the actual IP addresses of the nameservers assigned to you at UH for your reseller domain name, but other domains you'll just need to change the nameservers via the ukreg control panel.

| Yes your completely correct in your understanding Dave.
1. Get a UH reseller plan.
2. Change your domains nameservers at Ukreg to the ones we give you on signup.
3. Cancel with Fasthosts.
Let us know if you have any other questions, we look forward to hosting you.

| just a short tip:
After subscribing to UH and adding a site through Ensim CP, you will have access to upload any data and check them if they run correctly without having changed any nameserver yet.
So, I would advise you that the last step should be to change the NameServers of your domains in order not to experience any downtime.
