I promised I would submit my feedback and comments on UH after being with them for a month. Here's what I have to say.
I'm very impressed so far, and have to say they put my previous host in the shade. In fact, the service thus far has been nothing short of being
SUPER:
S for support: although I haven't had to make many enquiries, those that I have done have been responded to in a very timely manner and courteously too. It's important that Support is available at any time of day or night, and I think UH have got this one right. I got most of my help from the forums as well by reading past topics, and having a community of UH users is a good thing to share ideas and help each other where needed. The tutorials within the Support section are helpful although I understand this area is to have a complete overhaul soon.
U for uptime: I'm very pleased there has been no downtime during my first month for me, but appreciate this can happen at any time for whatever reason. However, what pleases me about UH is the level of communication that they have with their customers so that should a server go down or some other issue, I've found them to be on the ball with keeping people up to date with what's happening to put matters right.
P for protective: two of the things I'm really pleased UH offers is the Mailfoundry antispam and the 4xdaily backups. Although I've not had to use the backup facility, and I hope I don't have to, the knowledge that data is being backed up 4 times a day is heartwarming. There's not many hosting providers who offer this level of service. One of the reasons for moving to UH was because of the use of enterprise level spam filtering. I had used Mailfoundry before via a third party provider, but issues arose that caused problems between me, them and my other hosting provider. Here it is all in house, and this aspect of the service is brilliant. None of the issues I had before exist now.
E for easy: Although I've never used Parralel's Pro control panel before, I have found it extremely easy to use. In some ways, I find it simpler and cleaner to use than cPanel, which I used previously. Login is neater by being through a web page and not a popup. Webmail is easier to access although I know SquirrelMail is probably too basic for some. I like the idea of there being a one-stage login instead of the two I experienced previously, and all through one page as well.
R for reliable: connectivity speeds have been more reliable and quicker than my previous host. Even though I was on a US server before, the difference shouldn't be that much noticeable whether you're over the pond or in the UK, but I have seen quite a difference in accessing the websites I host, uploading to them and generally maintaining them through the control panel. Even though SquirrelMail is used as the default webmail client, it loads blazingly fast here, much more than it did before.
Those are my main points, but I would heartily recommend UH to anyone considering signing up to them based on those alone.
Good work guys, and many thanks!
One happy customer.
