    Support for Version Control System

On shared hosting, are there any plans to support any of the popular version control systems in future?
Even just Git, with read-only access to GitHub, would be awesome.

It makes distributing and updating new sites a lot simpler.

    Hi RobM

Currently this is not on our plans, however we do have a requested features list and future "to do" plan which I will certainly add this to for consideration.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

That would be great! At the company I work for, we manage around 50 websites that all share the same codebase, and that are all set to periodically check for updates. Whenever I push a code change through to GitHub, I know that in a matter of minutes, all 50 sites will have the new code in place.

I was hoping to do something similar for my site, but will rely on good old FTP for the moment.

I signed up with UH today based on all the positive feedback I've been reading.
Hopefully you guys will consider this feature, if it's requested by enough people!

Any news progress on this? Git is something I would very much like to see on shared hosting.

    Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I'm guessing this never got further than a smart reply to a forum posting otherwise someone from UH would have answered.

This is something that we have offered encouragement to cPanel to implement in a properly supported way as we much prefer to get such 3rd party tools to be included without us having to piece it together and risk it being impacted during updates.

Looks like cPanel is now supporting Git since version 11.36 (released in 2014) - does this mean that is now possible?
