| Which FTP programme do you use? A client has asked for recommendations for an easy to use FTP programme.
I use Terrapin FTP [ http://www.tpin.com/europe/ftp/index.htm] and have always found this to work easily and effectively, but I have a feeling a number at UH use Cute FTP, but I may be wrong!
Any recommendations/suggestions?

| Filezilla. A slightly older version, as v3 I didn't like. |

| Leech FTP - have been using it for years - quick and easy to install, and to use. |

pretty darn good with some powerful features if you need them. Does need re downloading and reinstalling about once a year if you don't pay for it. Reinstall is painless and gets the latest version.

| WS_ftpPro or FileZilla depending which machine I'm on. Some functions are better on FileZilla than WS, but the user interface is a dog's breakfast. |

| WinSCP. Mostly for the SSH facilities to unpack tar.gz files directly on the server. |

| Used to use SmartFTP on my old pc, but then it stopped working for some reason.
Then started using firetp.
I would recommend SmartFTP overall though - it's much much better than cute FTP |

| I use Flow currently ( Flow : FTP Done Right) but it's in beta and only for Mac. Seriously awesome app but it's taking a while to get out of beta because the dev is only part time. |

| I think what you can conclude is that there are lots of decent ftp programs out there. They all perform the basics which is good enough for most people. Only when you need more advanced functions do you need to get real picky.

| Yeah, my thought that most people here would be using the same 1-2 were obviously wrong!
Thanks for the input

| Filezilla is pretty cool...although something's not as good about version 3..seems slower..and also disconnects a lot more than version 2 used to. |

| Cyberduck here at work on Mac OSX, Fetch at home on Mac OS9. Both excellent and free.
