Error 500 caused by suspected data corruption last night a customer from France was kind enough (evidence of Anglo-French relationship entering a new era?) to email me to report a Internal Server error on a site (osCommerce) when he was browsing to find a gift.
After a quick review of the site, I determined the error only occured when browsing a particular sub-category, so there's no question of faults site-wise or in scripts. I then looked at that sub-category at the admin side. At first it appeared there was nothing unusual. I tried to move the products under that sub-category one by one while kept checking the shop front. It finally turned out that a single product was causing the dreadful Internal Server Error.
I post it here because I think it is quite unusual, and one may tempt to report it to UH when it's nothing to do with the server:
1. there's no trace of recording of this error in the error.log (unless UH could see something that we can not see);
2. the suspected 'corrupted' product can be viewed just fine at admin side.
