SVN Query

Is anybody is using SVN / SubVersion on a dedicated server with UH?

We've got the standard UH set-up with Ensim and a few live sites on it .. how hard would it be to use the same server for SVN?

Just wondering if SVN needs its own server, or whether it can co-exist with other sites / Ensim.

Anybody done this successfully on UH?

Edith

PS: I'm aware that SVN on shared hosting isn't possible, but we've got dedicated, so more freedom to play around .. and scr** things up

Personally it works better for me to use CVS software on a local server/workstation where I'm not paying for bandwidth or diskspace!

Using SFTP or SCP I just synchronise my UH webspace with my current version project folder in the CVS repository. This way I have all the previous versions to hand on my local server/workstation. If you do a lot of development/testing it'd be better to do this locally and then upload your finished product at each project stage (new features or bug fixes released).

The reason I'm thinking of using an online server is that several people can work it on it & don't have to be in the same location. We use developers who can be everywhere, and even myself I can work from either the UK or Austria.

Diskspace & Bandwidth are not a huge consideration as we've got a dedicated server just for our own site & dev copies, so plenty to spare.

I probably should also explain that I'm not after using SVN for syncing with a live site - the main purpose is to track version changes of our master software copy of "ReadyCart".
