Can this be done with the UH mail servers? Not sure what it is or how it works or why i need it!! so forgive me!!

No, push service is only limited to MobileMe, Yahoo, and Exchange servers with ActiveSync. The best you can do is set your iPhone to poll for mail every 15 minutes, though this will decrease battery life. Or just check your mail manually.
