Microsoft Frontpage

After spending half the day correcting Microsofts screwups (i.e., not closing tags, making everything align left even if you specify center, etc.) I am really thinking about writing them a letter congratulating them on such a wonderful product and I would also tell them where to ship their next wonderful product.

I think I'll just go notepad from here on out. I thought that frontpage would save me time but it has cost me money and wasted more of my time than I care to admit.

Re:Microsoft Frontpage

I'll just use notepad but thank you. It looks like a good product. I was just trying to give my hands a break since frontpage is mostly point click.

I have developed carpal tunnel and just needed to rest the fingers. I code just about 18 hours per day usually 7 days per week. 8 hours at work on the mainframe and the rest at home on my site.

Re:Microsoft Frontpage

Notepad is great but a program that I use is called Macromedia Homesite. I really like it because you're still writing raw html/php but it colour codes it all and things like tables and frames are really easy to setup. I would really recommend it.

I'll have to wait until next payday. I'll definitely try it out. What about fusion? Has anyone ever used that? of course it goes for $140, ouch. Not coldfusion just fusion.

Re:Microsoft Frontpage

Well, before purchasing it I'd recommend you download the free trial that they offer. You might hate it.

Re:Microsoft Frontpage

I use and thoroughly recommend AceHTML 5 Pro from Visicom Media (www.visicommedia.com). It's particularly good if you do lots of Javascript or CSS.

There is a freeware version which for normal purposes is just as good as the pro one.

Re:Microsoft Frontpage

I like that editor too but I try not to use javascript when possible, I like PHP for serverside because you can't manipulate server files with javascript sinces it's client side script (at least to the best of my knowledge).

Re:Microsoft Frontpage

yeah it's good isn't it... i think they've got it just about right cos it's only as complicated as you want it to be... whereas the more high profile editors [dreamweaver etc] have a bit of a steep learning curve for some...

and this one has got a decent amount of features too, certainly for a freeware thing...

Re:Microsoft Frontpage

Yeah. It's got everything you would ever need. I especially like the feature that allows you to pull in URLs. That was one of the very few things that I liked about frontpage so this freeware has got my vote. I just wish I would've seen it before I bought frontpage :-X

I tried a few freeware and shareware programs before I spent my money like coffee cup, etc. They were all good but they were always missing a feature or two.
