| FTP - how to 'tunnel' in? Hi there
Is it possible to "tunnel" into our accounts?
Reason I ask is that my ISP has somehow managed to implement traffic shaping so that FTP servers outside of the ISP's own network are only allowed a couple of KB/sec bandwidth.
I'm averaging about 5 KB/sec on file transfers - while FTP commands take forever - just navigating up or down a directory takes 30+seconds.
Someone advised me that using a 'tunnel' might be an option as it would evade the ISP's traffic management nonsense - but have no real idea whether this is possible?
I did a quick search on the forums here but only thing that seemed relevant was that SFTP was disabled? but I don't know if that's what I'm after anyway.
If anyone can help, I'd be most grateful. I think what I'm after is some means of sending FTP data disguised as something else... all very complicated I'm sure - but I'm stuck with my ISP for another 30 days and the last 30 days they've failed to fix things.
Hope someone can help.
thanks. |
