webdog

Hello everyone

I have just completed my transfer to UH, I am very happy to be here.

Funny thing, I uploaded my website to UH and everything works so much faster.
The page loading times are much better than my old host. And especially the PHP pages work faster.

I was looking about some of the other website showcases here, and most of them are in a different league from me, (some really talented people about).
But I am still learning about web design and only have a limited spare time to work on it.

I would be interested in any comments so I can improve my site.

watt-a-dog grooming and shears for the professional groomer

Cheers

Hi there!

For me web design is about evolution, so my advice would be to make small changes to bring the site up-to-date. A few things I'd do:

-> the blog link currently doesn't seem to link to a blog (there's an entry what a blog is but nothing else). Unless the blog is to launch soon, I'd remove the link.

-> remove the scrolling ticker text - it's not used much these days outside of stockbrokers and can make a site look dated. I'd incorporate the text into the page content.

-> internet is global, so I'd include something on your homepage / header that tells visitors where you are in the world [your grooming services are fab, but not if the dog is in Germany ]

-> forums can be great ways to attract business (just look at this one!) so why make it visible to registered users only?

All the best! Edith

I'm not sure how many users the site has got but I get the impression it's fairly new?

Generally an empty forum will look worse than no forum at all.
