First look:
The fixed height on div main is causing an overflow problem. (EDIT viewing in Firefox)

In firefox, the products appear at bottom of page & I have to scroll to see them - which means, that visitors using firefox will probably assume the category is empty with no products.

A secure page for the checkout process would be nice so shoppers can enter their address / password etc. on an encrypted page.

Footer / line is wrongly aligned in Firefox - cuts across pages e.g. dog feeding guidelines.

clicking product image opens site/homepage in new browser - not sure why?

Site looks quite different to the usual pet sites - would be interesting to see how that influences sales.

I did just that.

I like the simplicity of the site. It isn't over crowded with things. Have all the same issues in Firefox which is my main browser.

Can I go for my walk now - you've been laid on that sofa ever since you got home from work. And what about my tea? It wasn't like this when I was a cute little puppy was it? You really paid attention to me back then..."

Thanks for your responces. We wanted to keep the site simple as possible! This was because the company delivers to your door and the directors said that they get quite alot of elderly folk registering on the site.

I'll keep you informed of how it goes.

Cheers :-) V

This is an error with the site not with you,
since it is saying "DEBUG MODE" I guess he`s already working on the problem.

VipaTech, if your reading this, then you need to do a repair table, on the table phpbb_sessions, this should fix the problem.
Either use the tools in phpMyAdmin or run the following command on the mysql server after you have selected the correct db

REPAIR TABLE `phpbb_sessions`;

I notice that the VirtueMart site says that https can be used for the checkout, but I don't see how this can be done without making the whole site https - and that would be disastrous from a search engine point of view. If I have missed something it would be nice to know where to look.

The reason I never used MamboShop before was because of this issue with ssl not being able to be used for certain areas only, and this is just a repackaging of that programme - so maybe the problem still exists.

Hi Vger,

We found that using ssl with virtuemart was a bit buggy so we opted not to use it. All our payments go through Secpay anyway which is secure. I think the only way to get it running through SSL perfectly would be to have the whole shop running through it and as you say it is not too good from a search engine point of view.

You probably could get it working correctly with a few tweaks but we had a time limit on this project and the client wanted to use secpay anyway so we didn't bother looking.

Actually I said it would be 'disastrous' to have the whole site under https - because search engines don't rank https pages at all. They will list them but they give them no weighting in terms of points.

This is why I never used Mambo Shop. Customer Account details should be protected by SSL and not submitted unencrypted. I'm afraid that Mambo/Joomla get exploited too often not to use SSL encryption for customer details.

It's a shame because there is definitely a market there for an e-commerce programme which is also a CMS, or vice versa.
