It looks very different in IE6 W2K than in FF W2K. Menus jump about all over the place.

Have all but given up on IE - looks fine in IE7 and I have included the IE "fix" but it still falls apart in some versions - seems to be random.

Also OK in Opera

Looks perfect in Firefox 2 on Ubuntu, very clean layout. I've started playing with Joomla recently, I like what I've seen.

given up on IE? That's approx 90% of viewers.

i dout its quite 90% its proberly technically around the 50's which means your losing pretty much half the vistors if you dont make your site IE compatible.

the browsers I normally makes sites for are IE,FF,OPERA at least then if they work in at least them three I stand a good chance in it working in the others.

50% is way off the mark.

A lot of web developers look at http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

and take their figures from there quoting how well FF is doing and that IE is only 50-60%. But if you actually read what it has to say, then you would see that it says its figures are heavily skewed because most of its visitors are web developers who all have FF, Opera etc.

For sensible figures look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_s...f_web_browsers which ties in more closely with the real world figures that I have for sites I monitor.

Browsers

Wasn't really looking for a techy discussion about browsers.

Of course I design for IE but it's getting more and more difficult to predict which version people will have.

My site renders fine in IE6/7 but is mince in IE5.5.

I just wish MS would build to standards and make life easier for all of us

what makes me laugh most about browers is you get people using IE 5 or some stupid out dated version and then they moan about bugs etc. update for god sake and save us all the hassle lmao.

but it doesn't render fine in IE6 on W2k on my machine and IE6 is the largest chunk of users by a long way and will continue to be for probably at least a year.

The design isn't to my liking tbh but it is easy to navigate. You might want to take a look on how what your saying comes across too.

Nor does it validate - 77 errors on your home page - ouch! Look here

This just proves my point - on your machine it doesn't work in IE6 but on every machine I've tested (several) it's fine!

Trying out IE7 at the moment and it's poor to say the least

I have just tried this out on a up to date IE6 install and I dont think you would be happy with the results. Look at the attached image to see how it looks to me.

got to say that I have not seen too many variations within major versions of IE, and certainly none that would have this large an effect on tables, but the bottom line is that if you are designing websites for clients then they are more than likely going ot be viewing your site on IE so you do not want them to get the wrong impression.

They are not going to phone you for you to explain that IE does not conform to standards and that is why it looks bad.

Hi, Scotsfox!
I see you've abandoned the Rhuk Solarflare template. I've never been a fan of that template. The Joomla forums are always full of people asking how to tweak the damn thing. I like the way it looks now! Very tidy.
