Oscommerce config.php issue

I am trying to install Oscommerce on to a pre existing site Reddan Hogan

I have ftp. up the catlog folder in ASC11 mode I have followed the tutorial on the oscommerce website when I try to change the permissions on the config.php file and to 777 and click ok nothing happens, no error messages etc.
I go back in to the file and it has reset.

I am using the helm database which supports oscommerce on a basic pre existing html and css site.

I have followed the below step and the video tutorial but still have the same problem.

Changing file permissions
The permission on the catalog/includes/configure.php file needs to be set to 777 by logging into your root server and running "chmod 777 configure.php".

Assuming you are on UH server, you could use FTP to change permissions: right click on configure.php then tick the write permission for owner ( when you fist upload the files it'd have been writeable) so that it shows a numeric value of 644; uncheck the same box would give you a 444 numeric value which means it cant be over-written.
where you got 777 idea from? theres no need to set it 777, 644 is what it needs.

yes but your are asking the question of a forum for united hosting users. What works on our servers may not work on yours. You should really ask Blacknight about this as they will be better able to help you

Try asking at osC Answers - osCommerce Forums - for 'believers' in osCommerce MS2
