(SOLVED) joomla's default mailer

I found the solution on the joomla forum. I had selected Search Engine Friendly URL's, and that messed up the email. Now all email methods work - PHP, sendmail, and SMTP.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm looking for some advice from a joomla user and/or UH support - I've just installed my first joomla site (Version 1.5.15) and created an article, but when I click on the email icon to send it by email, I get error 404:

404 - Component not found

You may not be able to visit this page because of:

1. an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
2. a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
3. a mistyped address
4. you have no access to this page
5. The requested resource was not found.
6. An error has occurred while processing your request.

Before heading for the joomla support forum, I wondered whether this was something that is UH specific?

I notice in Joomla's Global Configuration, the mail settings have defaulted to 'PHP Mail Function', but I get exactly the same result if I change it to sendmail or SMTP.

I'd be grateful for any solutions - thanks in anticipation
Alan

I had this problem before and I was able to find my answer thanks to Google. It took me a few days to find the
answer and it actually is the same to your solution. It would have been easier if I had found this thread. I couldn't
have wasted days in research. However, I was still able to learn new things so no regrets.

Hi Jesse

This problem was due to a bug in Joomla 1.5.15. Once it was upgraded to 1.5.16, I discovered that the bug was fixed - and now we are at 1.5.18, it still seems fine, so I have been able to combine the 'email to a friend' feature with search engine friendly URL's ;-)

Hope that helps

Regards
Alan
