Firstly.. please forgive my level of ignorance I am about to display....

I took over a domain last year and on this domain all that runs is a closed forum where a relatively few users interact over techie type stuff.. mostly hardware

In the last few days several users have noticed that the forum has been displaying some odd behaviour such as not showing how many views a thread has had, not setting various flags, behaving in a generally 'clunky' way and in addition I regularly get

IPS Driver Error
There appears to be an error with the database

message at the bottom of an otherwise seemingly normal page

I have done what I can to check the database etc but freely admit that I could do with some pointers as to where to go from here.

Try looking in /path/to/root/forum/cache
This will have a load of .cgi files which will give you more clues.

In my experience of this it tends to be the "ibf_sessions.MYI" table.

Give that table a repair.
