Server Backups

Hi, I am aware that our dedicated server will be backed up 4x daily. Can I ask what happens if data is being written to a database table during a backup and also, are there periodic checks that these backups restore correctly?

Hello

We receive an email from our CDP servers if a backup fails for any reason, and obviously react to that to make sure backups are taken correctly.

CDP uses a lock on MySQL for a split second to take a proper MySQL snapshot, so it does not take a currupted copy and the data integrity is not compromised.

I suppose there have been occasions where the backups have been required Matt and there have not been any problems restoring?

Hi Irvo,

I have used the backup system on occasions when needing to restore a file that I had accidentally deleted. Full server restores also occur occasionally when a harddrive fails.

Hi Irvo,

I had to restore a mysql database a few days ago, restored within minutes and have had NO problems, you don't have to worry about a thing!
