mySQL question

I am feeling like a real idiot.

I enter (via SSH) the following:

mysql mydatabase_name < thefile.sql;

it gives me a syntax error. ?? (yes, I am logged into mysql at the time)

Any ideas?

Re:mySQL question

I just did it from the control panel although I would like to know how to do that from the SSH.

I tried: mysql -u myname -p mydbase_name < myfile.sql;

and that didn't work

Re:mySQL question

I don't know why you're putting a ; on the end of the command. Please try it without that

Re:mySQL question

i did and it just goes to another line and then just sits there with no message and creates no tables. so I read the manual and it said the mysql commands have to have ; at the end

Re:mySQL question

Since you brought up portals a couple of days ago, I did a little research on phpnuke, postnuke, and xoop. I decided to play around with postnuke. Its installation is much cleaner than phpnuke.
