Form Mailers - PHP or CGI

What are the considerations when selecting to go for a PHP or CGI script for a form mailer?

Are PHP scripts as secure as a cgi nms script for example?

Re:Form Mailers - PHP or CGI

We use PHP for all our formmail.

Purely because of all the hacks for previous formmail cgi scripts. If you decide to use CGI make sure its the most recent version, and keep it upto date.

Personally, I think that PHP is much easier to learn and deal with than CGI scripts or programs. That's just my opinion. It could be that I just don't know enough about CGI techniques. I really don't know much C++ or C either.

I would rather switch to PHP because its a little less hastle than cgi, but looking at it it just seemed more open to abuse - but if you guys use it that's good enough for me.

Yeh I did plenty of reading on it, pretty horrific. The new NMS formmail scripts are okay though, allegedly.
